What if I wont be able to vote in Marrickville on 13 September?

The NSW Electoral Commission website explains what you need to do if you can’t be at a polling booth in person on 13 September.

If you are interstate or overseas and cannot get to a polling place on election day, you will be excused for failing to vote. When you receive a penalty notice, explain that you were interstate or overseas and you will be excused.

Pre-poll voting opens on 1 September

The best way to vote if you wont be in Marrickville on 13 September is to cast a pre-poll vote at the Marrickville Council RO Office, 3/88-94 New Canterbury Road, Petersham NSW 2049. (It’s just opposite the ice skating rink).

The Office is open from 1 to 11 September Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm and on Friday 12 September from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

Postal Votes

You can also apply for a postal vote from the NSW Electoral Commission.

You need to complete the application form and submit it by post or fax to Marrickille Council’s returning officer by no later than 5 pm on Monday, 8 September. Make sure you apply early so that voting material can be sent to you before election day. Once your application has been processed you will be sent postal vote ballot papers and a declaration envelope for their return.
