Emanuel Tsardoulias

Born and bred in Dulwich Hill. Emanuel Tsardoulias is a local businessman and community activist.

Emanuel is committed to:  improving our local environment, sustainable main streets, better local resources and affordable housing for people in Marrickville.

His professional experience and a lifetime in Marrickville have given him a deep understanding of how local issues affect the lives of people in Marrickville.

Emanuel is a member of Rotary, a member of Marrickville Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Main Streets Committee and the Vice President of Marrickville PCYC.

  

2. Jo Haylen

Jo Haylen - West Ward

Jo understands the challenges faced by young people living in the Inner West.  Having moved here when she began her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Sydney, Jo has rented in the local area for six years. Now, looking forward to purchasing her own home, she understands first-hand the financial stress and other pressures the current housing affordability crisis places on renters and first home buyers.

Jo has been a life-long campaigner for public education, women’s rights and other social justice issues. She works as a political advisor and is a long term union member and activist. 

Locally, Jo has organised community forums and campaigns on justice for refugees, affordable housing and the importance of volunteering. Jo has been a director of a community childcare centre and the Sydney University Senate. She is also an active supporter of the arts.

  

3. Chris Woods

Chris Woods

Chris Woods has lived in Marrickville for 25 years.

For the past 15 years Chris has taught business studies and geography at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design. 

Chris has a long history of community involvement. As President of the Dulwich Newtown Basketball Club he has worked on committees to improve sporting facilities in Marrickville. As President of the Inner City Teachers Association he has represented teachers to improve local schools and build a brighter future for young people.

In 2002 Chris was awarded Citizen of the Year for Marrickville because of his involvement in sporting activities and student workplace training.

His main interests at a local government level are youth activities, environmental planning and sustainability as well as education and training opportunities for young people.
