1. Mary O’Sullivan

Mary O’Sullivan has lived in the Inner West for thirty years - the last decade in Marrickville.

Mary grew up in regional NSW. It was there she learnt first hand about the positive impact quality council services like public libraries and parks can have on working class communities.

Mary has a strong record of involvement in equal rights and social justice. She has been a teacher, project manager and policy researcher in schools, TAFE and the public service.

In Marrickville Mary has been involved in community campaigns around heritage and the Cooks River. She is a founding member of Friends of Bethlehem which supports Council’s sister city initiative.

Mary is also a member of the Institute of Public Administration, the NSW Teachers Federation and Women’s Electoral Lobby. She is a representative on the Sydney Airport Community Forum.

  

2. David Khoury

David Khoury has lived in Marrickville his whole life.

David has been an active member of Marrickville Youth Council (MYC) since 1999. David was elected as a Youth Representative to Council’s Sister Cities Committee and he has been a member of the National Youth Roundtable.

In 2003 David was awarded the Marrickville Young Citizen of the Year Award for his efforts as an advocate for young people within the Marrickville Municipality.

David in 2006 was elected as President of the Debbie and Abbey Borgia Recreational Centre run by the PCYC on Illawarra Road in South Marrickville which he currently still holds.

David has a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in Property Economics, from the University of Western Sydney. He is currently employed as a Commercial Property Manager and hopes to utilise his knowledge and skills obtained to date within his professional career to better serve the community in their planning needs.   

David is committed to being a voice for our local young people and delivering results for our local community. 

  

3. Rae Owen

Rae Owen

Councillor Rae Owen has been on Marrickville Council for 8 years.

Rae is a resident of Tempe and her ties with the area goes back four generations.

Flowers are a passion of Rae’s with her working as a florist and teaching floristry at a Sydney Community College for seven years.

As well as working with the community as a Councillor and as a florist, Rae is the mother of an 18-year-old.

Rae has always been dedicated to community services and whilst on Council has worked with committees that bring her closer to the issues of the area that she committed to improving even further.

Rae is committed to delivering community services to people that need them particularly when these services assist in keeping communities and families together.
