Laura Wright has lived in North Ward in Petersham for over 20 years. Her introduction to local issues began with involvement in resident campaigns around traffic calming measures and noise.
Laura’s varied career including retail management, teacher-librarian, union organiser and women’s officer and senior management roles in industry superannuation will bring a range of skills and experience to Marrickville Council especially in the areas of small business, young people, women’s issues and management.
Laura will work to ensure that services and facilities meet the needs of residents and businesses and that the Council is managed in an economically responsible way.

As a nurse she worked at Balmain Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred, and specialised in palliative care of HIV/AIDs and cancer patients at the Sacred Heart Hospice in Darlinghurst.
